Hickory Man Arrested on 31 Vehicle Break-In Charges Across Multiple Counties

Kayne Lavance Alford-Bruce, a 21-year-old man from Hickory, North Carolina, has been arrested and charged with over 30 offenses related to a string of vehicle break-ins and thefts across multiple jurisdictions in western North Carolina, including Alexander, Caldwell, Burke, and Catawba counties, as well as the City of Hickory and Town of Longview. The charges include 17 counts of breaking and entering into motor vehicles, multiple counts of larceny including firearms, and one count of motor vehicle larceny. The investigation began in May 2025 and intensified after a citizen reported a suspicious individual looking into vehicles on Bowmans Court in Bethlehem, leading deputies to arrest Alford-Bruce in the Wittenburg Springs Development. Authorities believe Alford-Bruce is part of a group responsible for these break-ins, and the investigation is ongoing with expectations of additional charges. He is currently held under a $350,000 secured bond at the Alexander County Detention Center, with his first court appearance scheduled for September 15.
