Washington Woman Charged in Border Patrol Agent's Death, Held Without Bail
Teresa Youngblut, a 21-year-old woman from Washington state, has been ordered held without bail in connection with the shooting death of U.S. Border Patrol agent David Maland during a traffic stop in Vermont on January 20. Youngblut is accused of firing at agents, which resulted in Maland's death and also claimed the life of her companion, Felix Bauckholt. The weapon used in the incident was reportedly purchased by a person linked to a double homicide in Pennsylvania. Both Youngblut and the gun buyer had regular contact with an individual tied to another homicide investigation in California. Court records reveal that Youngblut and Bauckholt were under law enforcement scrutiny prior to the shooting due to their suspicious activities and tactical gear. A preliminary hearing for Youngblut is scheduled for February 7.
