Brampton Mayor Targeted by Threats; Arrest Made

Peel Regional Police arrested 29-year-old Kanwarjyot Singh Manoria of Brampton in connection with alleged death threats made against Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown and his family in late June 2025. Police provided protection to the mayor and his family during the investigation and seized electronic devices as evidence. Manoria, charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, is believed to have acted alone and no longer poses an active threat to the mayor, his family, or the community. Mayor Brown, who has previously received similar threats, thanked police and stated he remains committed to his duties. Authorities have not disclosed the motive for the threats, citing the ongoing investigation. The incident comes as Brown, an outspoken advocate on crime, recently called for India’s Lawrence Bishnoi gang to be designated a terrorist group.
