A55 Bridge Repairs Cause Five-Week Closure

Repair work on Primrose Hill Bridge in Conwy, which suffered damage from a lorry strike in 2019, is set to commence this month, with funding confirmed by the Welsh Government. The repairs will require full overnight closures of the eastbound A55 from January 26 to March 2, affecting traffic between Junction 24 for Abergele and Junction 25 for Bodelwyddan. Traffic Wales stated that the work aims to address significant deformation in several primary beams caused by the incident. Campaigners have expressed frustration over the long delay in repairs, particularly since temporary traffic lights have been in place for years, costing nearly £260,000. During the upcoming closures, traffic will be diverted via the A547 Rhuddlan Road to minimize disruption. The project highlights ongoing concerns regarding infrastructure safety and maintenance in the region.
