Air Canada Expands Vancouver-Manila Direct Flights

Air Canada has commenced a new non-stop route between Vancouver and Manila, enhancing its presence in Southeast Asia and supporting Canada's Indo-Pacific strategy. This addition makes Air Canada the North American airline with the most non-stop destinations in Southeast Asia, with the route operating initially three times weekly and expanding to four times a week starting May 2025. The non-stop service reduces travel time from 21 hours via Tokyo to just 13.5 hours, reflecting the airline's confidence in the demand for direct flights. The route is significant due to the large Filipino community in Canada, which numbers over one million, and aims to facilitate tourism, trade, and connectivity between the two nations. Vancouver’s strategic position as the closest major North American city to Asia further strengthens its role as a hub for transpacific travel.
