Multiple MLB Teams Recall Pitchers From Triple-A Amid Injury Moves
Several MLB teams made roster moves involving recalls from Triple-A affiliates. The Miami Marlins recalled rookie right-hander Ryan Gusto to start against the Blue Jays, replacing Cal Quantrill, and he will make his second big-league start after being acquired in a trade from the Astros. The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled right-hander Matt Sauer to replace Paul Gervase, who was optioned back to Triple-A; Sauer has struggled this season with a 6.18 ERA. The San Francisco Giants recalled Luis Matos, who has struggled offensively but will start in right field against the Padres and may see more playing time against left-handed pitching. The Milwaukee Brewers recalled Carlos Rodriguez to serve as a multi-inning reliever, sending Tobias Myers to Triple-A. The Chicago White Sox placed reliever Elvis Peguero on the injured list with a strained elbow and recalled rookie right-hander Wikelman Gonzalez, who has shown promise in limited appearances this season.
