Virginia Man Charged in I-95 Road Rage Shooting
Fredy Gonzalez-Esquivel, a 22-year-old from Leesburg, Virginia, has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including two counts of attempted second-degree murder, felony assault, use of a firearm during a felony crime, and malicious destruction of property after a road rage shooting on I-95 in Prince George's County, Maryland, on May 26 (Memorial Day). The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m., when Gonzalez-Esquivel allegedly fired multiple shots at another vehicle, though neither the victim nor the passenger was injured. Police executed a search warrant on his vehicle in Virginia, finding a firearm, seven spent casings, and damage to the driver's side mirror consistent with gunfire from inside the car. Gonzalez-Esquivel was apprehended by Leesburg police and is awaiting extradition to Maryland. Maryland State Police continue to investigate this shooting and other highway gun violence incidents. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
