Dustin Johnson Among 16 LIV Players Invited to PGA Championship
Dustin Johnson, a two-time major champion and former world number one, has received a special invitation to compete in the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club after his exemption from winning the 2020 Masters expired. The PGA of America exercised its discretionary rule to invite Johnson, who has achieved two top-10 finishes in LIV Golf events this season despite missing the cut at the recent Masters and falling to 751st in the world rankings. The tournament, held May 15-18, will feature 16 LIV Golf League members, including Bryson DeChambeau, Sergio Garcia, Brooks Koepka, Jon Rahm, and Patrick Reed. LIV players like Tom McKibbin and Joaquin Niemann also received special invitations, reflecting the PGA Championship's continued, though unofficial, tradition of including top global talent regardless of tour affiliation. The event will showcase a blend of past champions, major winners, and rising stars, though notable absences include John Daly and Tiger Woods. The inclusion of LIV players comes as the PGA Championship maintains a more flexible invitation policy compared to other majors.
