According to Lyne, the aircraft was deliberately flown into a deep chasm in the Broken Ridge area of the Indian Ocean, a location he describes as a 'perfect hiding place'. Lyne's theory suggests that the crash was a premeditated act by the pilot, Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah, and challenges the prevailing theory that the plane crashed due to fuel starvation. He supports his claim with debris damage analyses indicating a controlled ditching, similar to Captain Sully's Hudson River landing. This new hypothesis aligns with tracking data from the pilot's home flight simulator and satellite communications. Lyne's findings are set to be published in the Journal of Navigation.
