UT Tyler Softball One Win Away From Back-to-Back Division II Titles

The UT Tyler Patriots softball team is on the verge of securing back-to-back NCAA Division II College Softball World Series Championships, having won game one against the University of Tampa with a 6-0 shutout. Primrose Aholelei pitched a complete game shutout with seven innings, allowing only one hit and striking out five, while key offensive contributions came from Miia Campos, JT Smith, Ka'lyn Watson, and Abbie Behe. The Patriots broke the scoreless tie in the fourth inning with two runs driven in by Campos, followed by a solo home run from JT Smith in the fifth and additional runs in the sixth inning. If they win the second game, UT Tyler will become the first team since 1998 to win back-to-back Division II softball national championships. The series continues with game two scheduled, and if necessary, a third game will be held to decide the national title. This marks a significant achievement for UT Tyler, which won its first Division II title earlier in 2024 after transitioning from Division III.
