The northeastern Indian state of Manipur has seen a significant surge in violence involving ethnic clashes between the Meitei and Kuki communities, resulting in numerous casualties. Over the past few days, at least 18 people have been killed, including in separate incidents involving bomb and drone attacks, as well as gunfights. The violence has prompted the deployment of military helicopters and anti-drone systems, with authorities closing schools and increasing security measures. Manipur's Chief Minister N Biren Singh has met with state officials and the governor to address the escalating situation. Since the conflict began in May 2023, more than 225 people have been killed, and around 60,000 have been displaced. The latest round of violence involves new tactics, such as the use of rockets and drones, escalating the conflict further.
