Pottstown Officer Shot, Suspect Apprehended After Standoff
A Pottstown police officer was shot on Sunday evening following a two-car crash at Beech and North Mount Vernon Streets. The suspect, involved in the crash, struggled with officers at the scene, managed to get hold of a firearm, and fled to his residence on Winding Road, where he fired at police, injuring an officer in the shoulder. This led to a shelter-in-place order and a standoff. The officer was hospitalized in stable condition, and the suspect was apprehended after police returned fire but did not hit him. The standoff lasted several hours and ended with the suspect's arrest, though his identity remains undisclosed. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
