Kyle McLemore Sentenced for Gun Trafficking

Kyle McLemore, a 47-year-old youth mentor in Philadelphia, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for illegally trafficking nearly 60 firearms from South Carolina to the city. Acting under the guise of his role with the NoMo Foundation, which aims to mitigate youth violence, McLemore was involved in a gun trafficking scheme shortly after being paroled for a 1999 murder conviction. Prosecutors described how he conspired with others, including Terrance Darby and Ontavious Plumer, to facilitate the illegal gun sales from November 2020 to February 2021. McLemore pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy, dealing in firearms without a license, and possession of a firearm by a felon. U.S. Attorney Jacqueline Romero emphasized the betrayal of public trust, stating, "McLemore sold dozens of guns from South Carolina on the streets of Philadelphia while pretending to work to reduce gun violence." This case is part of the broader Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative aimed at reducing gun violence in Philadelphia.
