A tragic roof collapse at the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, resulted in the deaths of at least 124 people, including renowned merengue singer Rubby Pérez and retired Major League Baseball pitcher Octavio Dotel. Dotel, who was rescued but later succumbed to his injuries, was among several notable figures present at the event, including the governor of Monte Cristi, Nelsy Cruz.
