Prime Video Launches Cruel Intentions Series

Prime Video is set to premiere a new series adaptation of 'Cruel Intentions' on November 21, featuring eight episodes that delve into the manipulative lives of privileged step-siblings Caroline Merteuil and Lucien Belmont at the elite Manchester College. The show, which stars Sarah Catherine Hook and Zac Burgess, follows the pair as they navigate Greek life and resort to deception after a hazing incident threatens their social standing. The series pays homage to the original 1999 film with a haunting cover of The Verve's 'Bittersweet Symphony' and includes returning cast member Sean Patrick Thomas as Professor Chadwick. Co-showrunners Sara Goodman and Phoebe Fisher aim to modernize the classic tale, which is based on Pierre Choderlos de Laclos' 'Les Liaisons Dangereuses'. This marks the third attempt to adapt 'Cruel Intentions' for television, following previous failed iterations. The series promises to explore themes of power, reputation, and betrayal within a contemporary context.
