LIV Golf Has Not Reapplied for OWGR Points

LIV Golf is not currently in formal discussions with the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) to secure ranking points for its tournaments, as OWGR chairman Trevor Immelman clarified that LIV has not reapplied and no application is under review. LIV previously withdrew its application in early 2024 after a 2023 denial over concerns such as a locked field size and limited qualification pathways. Since then, LIV has expanded its field to 54 players and introduced promotion events, but has not submitted a new application. Informal conversations between Immelman and LIV CEO Scott O'Neil have occurred, but no substantive progress has been made. The absence of OWGR points continues to impact LIV players' qualification for major championships, though some, like Joaquin Niemann, have secured exemptions. Securing ranking points remains a key objective for LIV as it seeks greater legitimacy and access for its players.
