An explosion at a gas station in Makhachkala, Dagestan, triggered a fire that killed at least 11 people, including two children, and injured several others. The incident occurred on Friday and the fire was subsequently extinguished. Regional authorities have initiated a criminal investigation into the cause of the explosion and declared Saturday a day of mourning. This follows a similar tragic event in August 2023, when a massive explosion at a gas station in Dagestan resulted in 35 deaths and 115 injuries. The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations is managing the response efforts and emergency medical teams have been deployed to assist the injured and facilitate rescue operations.
