San Rafael School Board Member Arrested for 2023 Student Sexual Assault

Isai Nicodemo Rodas, a 22-year-old member of the San Rafael City School Board, was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old student in multiple incidents in late 2023 while he worked as a paraeducator at Marin's Community School, a program under the Marin County Office of Education (MCOE). The assaults allegedly occurred off campus and were reported to police by MCOE staff in June 2025, prompting an investigation. Rodas was elected to the school board in December 2024 but never worked directly for San Rafael City Schools. Following his arrest, the San Rafael Board of Education suspended him from his duties pending the case outcome, with school officials emphasizing their commitment to student safety and support. Authorities are reviewing the case to determine if charges will be filed, and so far, no misconduct involving current San Rafael City School students has been reported. Counseling services are being provided to affected students and staff as the investigation continues.
