Longtime Belville, North Carolina Mayor Michael Allen Dies at 76

Michael Allen, the longtime Mayor of Belville, North Carolina, died peacefully at the age of 76 after serving the town for over 15 years, including seven terms as mayor. Allen was instrumental in revitalizing downtown Belville and setting a vision for the town's future growth and development. Before his mayoral career, he served 30 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as a Command Sergeant Major, and worked as a deputy sheriff and captain with the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office. Belville officials and local leaders expressed deep sorrow over his passing, highlighting his dedication to public service and strong community leadership. Allen was married for over 45 years with two sons and two grandsons, and he had filed to run for another term before his death. Acting Mayor Charles Bost will serve as interim mayor while funeral arrangements are pending.
