The retailer, known for its wide range of Halloween decorations, costumes, animatronics, and props, typically targets communities of about 35,000 people within a close radius and closes shortly after Halloween. The trend of early Halloween shopping, dubbed “Summerween,” is gaining popularity, with many shoppers and retailers in places like Las Vegas starting Halloween preparations as early as July and August. This early enthusiasm is reflected in increased sales for both small businesses and major retailers such as Walmart and Home Depot, with shoppers seeking unique decorations and costumes before the traditional October rush. Halloween spending has nearly doubled since 2014, hitting a record $11.6 billion last year, with nearly half of consumers beginning their purchases before October. This shift in consumer behavior is encouraging retailers to launch Halloween displays and promotions well in advance, catering to the growing demand for early festive preparations.
