YouTube to Retire Trending Page for Category Charts

YouTube will discontinue its Trending Page and Trending Now list in the coming weeks, ending features introduced in 2015. The decision follows a sharp decline in user visits and a shift toward personalized recommendations, Shorts, search, comments, and community posts for content discovery. YouTube plans to expand its category-specific Charts, currently including music videos, podcasts, and movie trailers, to accommodate more categories over time. The company cites the rise of diverse fandoms and micro-trends as making a unified trending list obsolete. Some creators and users may miss the old Trending Page as a marker of visibility, but new creator tools like the Inspiration tab and Hype feature will be available to track trends and boost emerging talent. The changes reflect YouTube’s broader strategy to emphasize personalized and niche content discovery.
