Waldorf Man Arrested for Arson After Dispute

Omar Shariff Harrison, 49, of Waldorf, Maryland, was arrested and faces multiple charges, including attempted murder and arson, after allegedly pouring gasoline on his wife's bed and setting it on fire while she and their two children were asleep. The incident occurred around 5 a.m. on Eutaw Forest Drive, following a prior domestic dispute that led authorities to advise the couple to remain in separate parts of the home. Harrison reportedly poured a trail of gasoline down the stairs and ignited the bed sheets, but later extinguished the fire himself. His wife and children escaped unharmed and called 911. Damage to the home was minimal, estimated at $500, and investigators linked the arson to the domestic dispute, noting Harrison had previously threatened to burn the house down. Harrison was apprehended during a traffic stop and remains in custody awaiting bond review.
