Correctional Officers Arrested for Contraband Trafficking in Alabama, Texas Facilities

Two correctional officers were recently arrested for involvement in contraband smuggling at separate facilities. In Alabama, Aniki Jones, a security guard at Donaldson Correctional Facility, was charged with promoting prison contraband, possession of marijuana, and trafficking methamphetamine after being found with packages containing marijuana, methamphetamine, and an unidentified substance. In Texas, Jose Derlis Munos, a former corrections officer at Karnes County Detention Facility, was arrested by U.S. Marshals and the FBI for accepting bribes to smuggle marijuana, cigarettes, and narcotics-laced paper into the facility. Munos allegedly coordinated with outside sources and inmates to introduce these contraband items into the prison. Both cases highlight ongoing challenges to prison security and the accountability measures being enforced by law enforcement agencies. Officials emphasized the importance of maintaining integrity within correctional facilities to safeguard the justice system.
