Appleton, Orlando Sanford Airports Add New Florida, Dominican Routes
Two regional airports in the U.S. are expanding their flight offerings to popular warm-weather destinations. Orlando Sanford International Airport will welcome Arajet, the Dominican Republic's low-fare national airline, beginning nonstop service to Punta Cana starting October 26, with fares from $138 and flights operating three times weekly. Meanwhile, Appleton International Airport (ATW) in Wisconsin is adding Sun Country Airlines as its fifth carrier, launching seasonal nonstop flights to Fort Myers, Florida, starting January 30, 2026, with service initially twice weekly and increasing to four times a week by late March. Sun Country will operate Boeing 737-800 aircraft on the route, enhancing travel convenience for Northeast Wisconsin residents and expanding ATW’s total Florida nonstop destinations to six. Both airports emphasize these new routes as key connections that support regional growth, community ties, and easier access to popular vacation spots. These expansions reflect growing demand for direct flights to warm destinations from smaller U.S. airports.
