Concerns Raised Over Ghee Quality at Odisha Temple

Priests at the Sri Baladevjew temple in Kendrapara, Odisha, have raised serious allegations regarding the use of adulterated ghee for preparing prasad and bhog during religious ceremonies. The issue emerged when priest Sarat Patri discovered tins of ghee from OMFED in the temple kitchen that exhibited a foul smell and sour taste. Following complaints from temple cooks, the managing committee returned five tins of the ghee, with Executive Officer Balabhadra Patri confirming the faulty supply. OMFED's marketing in-charge Lingaraj Parida responded by claiming the ghee's quality was compromised due to improper storage conditions, rather than adulteration. This controversy comes amidst broader concerns over ghee quality in various temples, including those involved in the ongoing Tirupati laddu scandal. The situation has prompted temple authorities to take corrective measures and seek assurances regarding the ghee supply quality.
