NFL fines Eagles Jalen Carter $57,222, counts ejection as one-game suspension
The NFL has fined Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter $57,222 and counted his ejection for spitting on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott as a one-game suspension, which he has effectively served. Carter was removed from the game before playing a snap, so he is eligible to play in the Eagles' upcoming Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs. The NFL Players Association confirmed Carter waived his right to appeal the punishment, and an agreement with the Eagles ensures the suspension won't affect his contract guarantees or signing bonus. The incident occurred after the opening kickoff during an injury delay, when Prescott spat on the ground near Carter's huddle, prompting Carter to retaliate by spitting on Prescott. Prescott explained that Carter was targeting Cowboys rookie offensive lineman Tyler Booker, which led Prescott to intervene. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni stated any further disciplinary measures would be handled privately within the team.
