Premier League Introduces Semi-Automated Offside Technology April 12

The Premier League is set to introduce semi-automated offside technology (SAOT) on April 12, following successful trials in the FA Cup and other leagues. This technology aims to enhance the accuracy and speed of offside decisions by automating key elements of the decision-making process, using up to 30 high-speed tracking cameras in each stadium. Clubs unanimously agreed to implement the system last year, although its rollout faced delays due to testing issues. SAOT is designed to reduce the time taken for VAR reviews and improve fan experience by providing virtual graphics for clearer decision-making. The introduction comes at a crucial time in the season, as title contenders like Arsenal and Manchester City compete closely, where every offside call could impact the championship outcome.
