36 Virginia Schools Honor 216 Student-Athletes on VaSID Academic All-State Team

The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced their 2024-25 Academic All-State Team, recognizing outstanding student-athletes from various Virginia colleges for excellence both in athletics and academics. Six student-athletes from George Mason, Longwood, Liberty, Washington and Lee University (W&L), and Virginia Military Institute (VMI) earned this honor by maintaining at least a 3.25 GPA and contributing significantly to their teams. Notable achievements include Jacco Arends from George Mason graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA, and Liberty's heptathlete maintaining a 4.0 GPA in both undergraduate and graduate studies. Several honorees also held leadership roles and received additional awards, such as Lauren Distad's presidency of the GMU Student Athlete Advisory Committee and Olyvia Kennedy's George Mason Athletics Equity Impact Award. The selections span a variety of sports including tennis, track & field, soccer, volleyball, and lacrosse, highlighting both athletic and academic excellence. Across 36 schools, 216 student-athletes were recognized, illustrating the Commonwealth’s strong commitment to balancing sports and education.
