China Expels Former Senior Officials in Major Anti-Corruption Purge

Xu, former vice director of the National Development and Reform Commission, was found to have accepted free trips, lavish banquets, and facilitated job promotions and business contracts in exchange for bribes. Both officials have had their illicit gains confiscated, and their cases have been transferred to prosecutorial authorities for further legal action. These expulsions follow a broader crackdown that has removed thousands of officials across various sectors, including a recent major reshuffle within the military.
