Girl Dies in Hersheypark Wave Pool Incident

A 9-year-old girl died after being pulled from the wave pool at The Boardwalk water park in Hersheypark, Pennsylvania, on July 24. Witnesses reported that lifeguards immediately began rescue and CPR efforts, and park officials noted that over 100 trained lifeguards, including 10 assigned to the wave pool, were on duty at the time. The child was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The wave pool will remain closed as a mark of respect. An investigation is ongoing involving Derry Township police, the Dauphin County Coroner's Office, and an internal review by the park.
