Bridgeport Teen Charged in Greenwich Car Theft Shooting

A Bridgeport teenager, Jayden Ganthier, 18, was arrested Wednesday and charged in connection with an early‑morning motor vehicle theft and shooting in Greenwich. The incident occurred Sept. 23 at about 4:55 a.m. on Greenwich’s west side when a resident who interrupted the theft sustained non‑life‑threatening injuries consistent with shrapnel from a discharged firearm; witnesses reported hearing what they believed were gunshots though no direct gunshot wound was identified. The stolen vehicle was later recovered in Bridgeport, where officers recovered a firearm, a shell casing and other evidence. Police arrested Ganthier at his home during a follow‑up investigation and charged him with multiple felonies including firearm offenses, first‑degree larceny, robbery and assault. Authorities say the incident appears isolated, the investigation is ongoing, and they urged residents not to confront suspected criminals, to call 911 and to secure their vehicles.
