Man Charged with Arson After Target Fire
Denny Ellis, a 56-year-old from Nevada, has been charged with aggravated arson after allegedly starting a fire at a Target store in Rosemont, Illinois, causing at least $1.5 million in damage. The fire, which began in the diaper aisle, led to extensive fire, water, and smoke damage throughout the store. Employees attempted to extinguish the fire before firefighters from multiple departments arrived, and all occupants evacuated safely with no major injuries reported. Ellis was identified as the suspect through collaborative efforts of various agencies, including the Illinois State Fire Marshal and ATF, and was tracked down using license plate readers in Elk Grove Village. Ellis is being held in custody following a bond court appearance, and the store remains closed for cleanup. Agencies have not released additional details on the potential cause of the fire.
