Vidya Balan paid a heartfelt photographic tribute to the legendary Carnatic singer MS Subbulakshmi on her 108th birth anniversary. Collaborating with costume designer Anu Parthasarathy, Vidya recreated some of Subbulakshmi's iconic styles, including four sarees she popularized between the 60s and 80s. The tribute aimed to capture both the vibrant sarees and the simple accessory ensemble characteristic of Subbulakshmi's appearance, such as the traditional kumkumam, vibhuti, and distinctive nose pins. Vidya expressed her deep admiration for the singer, noting that this project had been a long-cherished dream. Additionally, a statue of MS Subbulakshmi was reinstalled at RTC Cross Road Junction in Tirupati to mark the occasion. Fans and celebrities alike lauded Vidya's tribute, underscoring the enduring legacy of the legendary vocalist.
