Ted Danson Reflects on 'Cheers' Costar George Wendt's Death
Ted Danson is still deeply grieving the loss of his longtime Cheers co-star and friend George Wendt, who passed away on May 20 at the age of 76 from cardiac arrest. Danson revealed on his podcast, Where Everybody Knows Your Name, that he has not fully processed Wendt's death, describing it as a 'big ol' hole' and admitting he had to suppress his emotions while working after hearing the news. Despite the sadness, Danson expressed that he feels 'totally complete' with his relationship with Wendt and cherishes the memories they shared, including a recent reunion podcast episode with fellow co-star Woody Harrelson. Danson praised Wendt as an amazing and incredibly funny actor whose work he will continue to celebrate and enjoy. He also conveyed heartfelt sympathy for Wendt's wife Bernadette and their children, acknowledging the profound loss they are enduring. Additionally, Brett Goldstein, who appeared on the podcast and is a close associate of Wendt's nephew Jason Sudeikis, shared how the Ted Lasso team commemorated Wendt, highlighting his kindness and impact beyond Cheers.
