Uber Launches Senior Accounts and Simple Mode

Uber has launched Senior Accounts and 'Simple Mode' to make its ride-hailing app more accessible for older adults, featuring simplified interfaces with larger text, fewer buttons, and easier navigation. These features are now part of Uber’s Family Profile, allowing family members to invite seniors, book rides, set various payment methods—including Medicare Flex cards—and monitor trips in real time for added security. Seniors can also store frequent destinations, such as medical offices, and choose to use either their own or a family member’s payment options. Simple Mode offers the same accessibility improvements for seniors who prefer not to use a family profile. The rollout is nationwide in the U.S. and available in select international markets. This initiative follows similar efforts by Lyft and highlights the industry’s focus on improving transportation access for the elderly.
