UK government announces £270m funding for museums, cultural venues

The UK government has unveiled a £270 million Arts Everywhere Fund aimed at supporting museums and cultural venues facing financial difficulties. Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy announced this initiative alongside a 5% budget increase for all national museums and galleries, marking a significant investment intended to enhance the arts sector across the country. Among the beneficiaries, Tamworth Castle is set to receive over £1.7 million, while Norfolk's Sainsbury Centre and Bressingham Steam Museum will receive £1.3 million and £429,719, respectively. The funding is part of a broader strategy to ensure the sustainability of cultural institutions, with specific allocations for urgent maintenance and restoration projects. Local museums will also benefit from a £20 million fund designed to keep civic museums operational. This announcement coincides with the 60th anniversary of the first arts white paper, emphasizing the government's commitment to making arts accessible to all.
