Alwen Hughes, Wife of Rolf Harris, Dies at 93

Alwen Hughes, the wife of disgraced TV presenter Rolf Harris, has died at the age of 93, just 15 months after her husband's death from neck cancer. Alwen, who had been suffering from vascular dementia and Alzheimer's Disease, supported Harris throughout his trial and imprisonment for child sex offences. Rolf Harris, a former children's TV favorite, was convicted in 2014 for 12 indecent assaults on underage girls between the 1960s and 1980s, receiving a sentence of nearly six years. The couple met at art school and married in 1958, with Alwen known for her eccentric fashion sense and their shared love for poodles. Alwen passed away from a stroke on August 15, 2024, at their home in Berkshire. Their daughter Bindi, who was by Harris' side during his final days, had promised to take care of her mother as his last request.
