Morningside University Plans Merger With St. Luke's College By 2026

Morningside University and St. Luke’s College – UnityPoint Health, both located in Sioux City, have announced plans for a strategic merger set to be completed by the end of 2026, pending regulatory approvals. St. Luke’s College will retain its name as a Morningside location during a transition period, with students gaining access to Morningside’s athletics, housing, and extracurricular activities. The merger will expand Morningside’s healthcare offerings to include associate degrees in radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, and nursing programs such as an accelerated bachelor of science in nursing (ABSN) and associate of science in nursing (ASN). University and healthcare leaders emphasized that the collaboration aims to strengthen educational and employment opportunities for future healthcare professionals in the community. Current students will have teach-out plans to complete their degrees with minimal disruption, and financial aid will be assessed individually. Both institutions expressed optimism about building on their strong nursing education legacies and supporting students and faculty throughout the transition.
