Former Postal Workers Admit Mail Theft, Pandemic Fraud in Hudson, St. Louis
Two separate cases involving postal workers stealing mail and committing fraud have come to light. In North Bergen, New Jersey, postal worker Eirin Novas was arrested for stealing credit cards from mail along her delivery route and passing them to Awilda Taveras-Bido, who used the cards fraudulently for over $4,000 in unauthorized charges. In St. Louis, Missouri, former USPS worker Anthony Virdure II admitted to stealing checks from hundreds of mail pieces processed at the local distribution center, with stolen checks totaling $68,486. Virdure also pleaded guilty to wire fraud for receiving a $20,832 federal pandemic loan under false pretenses for a tobacco store. Investigations linked Virdure through fingerprints on stolen checks found in multiple locations, and his sentencing is scheduled for November 30. Authorities continue to investigate and encourage anyone with information to come forward.
