OU School of Dance Offers Free Parkinson’s Classes Norman

Recent developments in Parkinson's disease (PD) care include complementary therapies, novel drug delivery, and community support initiatives. A case report highlights the potential benefits of acupuncture and herbal medicine as adjunctive treatments in home-based palliative care for end-stage PD, showing symptom relief and improved quality of life, particularly in managing terminal dyspnea. On-demand therapies that bypass gastrointestinal absorption, such as subcutaneous injections and inhalation, offer rapid relief during OFF periods, improving daily functioning and patient quality of life, as presented by movement disorder experts at a 2025 conference. Community-based interventions are also expanding, exemplified by the University of Oklahoma School of Dance offering free dance classes for individuals with PD and their caregivers, fostering both therapeutic movement and community engagement. Together, these approaches reflect a multifaceted strategy to address motor and non-motor symptoms of PD, enhance patient comfort, and support caregivers. Further research and policy support are encouraged to integrate these therapies into standard PD care.
