German Defence, Foreign Ministries Exit Musk's X

Germany's foreign and defense ministries, along with the Bundeswehr national army, have decided to withdraw from the social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, due to dissatisfaction with the platform's current environment. This decision follows Elon Musk's endorsement of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party during a live discussion with its leader, Alice Weidel, which has caused significant backlash in Berlin. The ministries cited increasing difficulty in engaging in factual discourse on X, leading them to redirect their communications to platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, and Bluesky. Additionally, more than 60 German universities and institutions have also exited the platform, highlighting the growing concerns regarding misinformation and the political climate. Musk's interventions in European politics, including derogatory remarks about German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, have drawn criticism and accusations of meddling.
