UConn Women's Basketball Dominates Season Opener

The No. 2 UConn women's basketball team opened their season with a commanding 86-32 victory over Boston University, showcasing impressive performances from newcomers Sarah Strong and Jana El Alfy, both scoring 17 points. Strong, a freshman and former top recruit, also recorded six steals, while El Alfy added 11 rebounds for a double-double. All-American Paige Bueckers contributed 13 points, seven assists, and five steals, helping the Huskies dominate with aggressive defense that forced 33 turnovers. The Huskies led 60-13 at halftime, displaying depth with all 10 players scoring, including contributions from other freshmen. Despite a less prolific second half, UConn's strong start secured their 29th consecutive season-opening win. The team will face South Florida next on Sunday.
