China's SANY Begins 10MW Solar Plant Construction in Zimbabwe
SANY Silicon Energy has commenced construction on its first solar power plant in Zimbabwe, a 10 MW facility commissioned by Runtu Mining Company and the first in Africa to employ SANY's innovative EP+F model, which integrates engineering, procurement, and financing to ease customers' financial burdens. The plant will deploy 710 high-efficiency photovoltaic modules and is expected to connect to the grid by the end of 2025, producing 18 million kWh annually to help address Zimbabwe's power shortages and support local industries. This project serves as a pilot for the EP+F model, offering a scalable blueprint for clean energy development in emerging markets, with potential expansions into microgrids, heavy truck electrification, and EV charging infrastructure. Meanwhile, Serentica Renewables has launched a 180 MW solar-wind hybrid project in Bikaner, Rajasthan, dedicated to powering a major zinc producer, demonstrating a significant advancement in industrial decarbonization and renewable energy adoption. Both initiatives highlight a broader trend of integrating renewable energy solutions to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable industrial growth globally. These projects underscore commitments to advancing low-carbon transitions and expanding renewable infrastructure in both Africa and India.
