US Woman Extradited for Birmingham Murder Plot

Aimee Betro, a 45-year-old US citizen from Wisconsin, has been extradited from Armenia to the UK to face charges of conspiracy to murder Birmingham shop owner Aslat Mahumad and his family, along with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and importing ammunition. The alleged plot dates back to September 2019 when a firearm jammed, allowing the intended victim to escape. Betro appeared in Birmingham Magistrates Court, confirmed her personal details, and indicated not guilty pleas to all charges. She was remanded in custody and is set to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on February 14. The case involves coordination between West Midlands Police, the Crown Prosecution Service, Derbyshire Constabulary, and the National Crime Agency. Two other men, Mohammed Aslam and his son Mohammed Nazir, have already been convicted and jailed for their roles in the conspiracy.
