Alaska Airlines expands Mileage Plan with mixed partner awards, experiential redemptions

Alaska Airlines has introduced mixed-partner award redemptions, allowing Mileage Plan members to book itineraries that include flights from multiple partner airlines, specifically American Airlines and British Airways. This change addresses a long-standing limitation where members could only book itineraries that involved Alaska Airlines and one other partner. However, current mixed-partner bookings seem restricted, and the pricing structure for these itineraries may be higher than for single-partner awards. In addition, Alaska Airlines has launched Mileage Plan Unlocked, enabling members to use miles for curated experiences beyond flights, such as access to concerts and exclusive events, starting at 10,000 miles. This program enhances the value of miles by offering unique opportunities, including dining experiences and special events with renowned chefs. The integration with Hawaiian Airlines also allows members to enjoy mutual benefits and status matching between the two carriers.
