Victoria Feige Advocates for Para Surfing in 2028

Canadian para surfer Victoria Feige, a five-time world champion, is actively campaigning for para surfing to be included in the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics. Despite California's status as a host for every para surfing championship since 2015, LA's organizing committee has declined to propose it, citing 'cost and complexity' as reasons for its omission. Feige expressed her devastation, having been involved in the push for para surfing's inclusion since 2018. At 39, she competes in the women's kneeling classification after a snowboarding accident left her paralyzed below the waist. A petition called 'Save Paralympic Surfing L.A. 2028' has garnered nearly 27,000 signatures, and Feige has gained support from notable figures like Kelly Slater and Jack Johnson. She remains hopeful for 2028, despite the International Surfing Association looking towards Brisbane in 2032.
