Disney Plans Animated 'Monsters Inc.' Monday Night Football Special Featuring Eagles vs Chargers

Disney is launching "Monsters Funday Football," an animated alternative broadcast of the Monday Night Football game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Los Angeles Chargers on December 8, 2025. This special telecast features characters from Pixar's Monsters, Inc. and will be powered by NFL Next Gen Stats alongside Sony's Beyond Sports and Hawk-Eye Innovations technology, creating an immersive experience set inside the Monsters, Inc. building. The broadcast will be available live on ESPN2, Disney Channel, Disney XD, and the ESPN App, as well as streaming on Disney+ and the NFL+ mobile app, with video on demand following the live event. The traditional Monday Night Football coverage will air simultaneously on ESPN, ABC, and ESPN Deportes. Internationally, "Funday Football" will stream live on ESPN and Disney+ platforms in over 155 markets, including Latin America, Australia, and Europe. This marks the third consecutive year of Disney's animated NFL altcasts, following previous editions themed on Toy Story and The Simpsons, and features original voice actors Billy Crystal and John Goodman reprising their roles as Mike Wazowski and Sulley.
