Air Canada, Qatar Airways Expand Americas Routes
Air Canada has announced its largest-ever winter expansion for 2025-26, introducing new direct routes from Canada to Rio de Janeiro, Cartagena, Guadalajara, and Guatemala City, as well as increasing frequencies on routes like Toronto to Nassau. The expansion aims to boost tourism, trade, and regional economic growth by increasing both passenger and cargo capacity. Air Canada seeks to position itself as the leading carrier between Canada and Latin America. Simultaneously, Qatar Airways is expanding its Americas operations, increasing its Toronto service to five weekly flights from June 2025 with plans for daily service by winter, and raising São Paulo flights to 17 per week. These moves by both airlines respond to rising demand, providing travelers with more flexibility and reinforcing global connectivity. The expansions are expected to revitalize tourism, trade, and international connections across the Americas.
