Colorado Teen Hospitalized in E. Coli Outbreak

Kamberlyn Bowler, a 15-year-old from Grand Junction, Colorado, is battling kidney failure after contracting E. coli from McDonald's Quarter Pounders, likely due to contaminated onions. She is one of at least 75 people affected by the outbreak, with 22 hospitalizations and one death reported. Kamberlyn was flown 250 miles to a Denver hospital for dialysis after her symptoms, initially mistaken for the flu, worsened significantly. Her mother, Brittany Randall, plans to sue McDonald's for the infection, which has been traced to slivered onions supplied by Taylor Farms. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed the link to the onions, prompting a recall and a temporary removal of Quarter Pounders from menus. Despite severe complications, including hemolytic uremic syndrome, Kamberlyn's condition is gradually improving, though her discharge date is uncertain.
