Cameron Joyce appointed head coach at Loyola High School
Cameron Joyce, son of Dru Joyce II—LeBron James’ high school coach—has been appointed head basketball coach at Loyola High School in Los Angeles after a successful tenure at St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland. At St. Ignatius, Joyce led the team to its first state championship in over two decades and compiled a 118-44 record over six seasons, earning multiple district and regional titles. His coaching experience also includes roles at the college level, with administrative and assistant stints at Ohio State, the University of Florida, and Northwood University. Joyce cited Loyola’s Jesuit identity and alignment with his values as pivotal in his decision to accept the position. He will lead Loyola in the competitive Mission League, facing nationally ranked teams. Joyce’s family has deep basketball roots, with his father still coaching at St. Vincent-St. Mary and his brother, Dru Joyce III, serving as head coach at Duquesne University.
